I did not know Devin but could not believe this loss. I watched an interview with him on channel 12 before his death and was so taken with his passion for learning, passions for having so many different passions and his representation in the african american community in stamford. As a graduate of Westhill HS and a recent graduate of Syracuse University watching this made me see how much we have to look forward to. Unfortunately, you will never know how far he could have gone but it seemed as though he did more in 23 years than some do in 100. I want to wish you all my sympathy + hope you can take his loss as inspiration to find your passions.

Devin, We never had the pleasure of meeting you, but you meant the world to our daughter Larisa, and in this way have touched our lives. Emily Dickinson once wrote: If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain. Even though your precious life has been so abruptly cut short, it was overflowing with such kindnesses. You have left a part of yourself in countless mourning hearts and so your legacy will live on. Well done, Devin. Farewell, bright shining star.

To Devin's family: My heart aches for your loss. I didn't know Devin, but of course had heard about his marvelous accomplishments. My son Adam died in a car accident in 2003 at the age of 21, so I know something of what you are feeling. Knowing that others have made it through this kind of tragedy helped me make it day by day as well. If you ever need anyone to talk to or cry with, please don't hesitate to contact me. I didnt know you very well Devin but I was in contact with you a few times while working at UConn. What I got out of knowing you was that there are no limits or boundaries to the goals you want to achieve in life. Your hard work will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Devin.

Devin, I never met you but I am in the drama department at UConn, and also went to Stamford High School. Many of my friends knew you and have said nothing but marvelous things about you. I will pray for your family and friends, and for you, an extraordinary young man who will never be forgotten by those who loved him, or those who even have had the honor of hearing about such a brilliant young man, like me. You are an inspiration with all of the things you have achieved. Rest in peace fellow Husky, fellow Black Knight, and brother. And I hope all those that you leave behind know that you are going to take good care of them and watch over them.

Darling Devin: I only spoke with you a few months ago and now you are gone. I will miss you so much. You were the brightest star in all of our lives. All the memories I ever had of you were always wonderful and funny because of the unbelievable person you were, are, and always will be. Devin, I think I only recently got to really start knowing how amazing you were. I tried to type in something here, and nothing works in words for me at the moment. I think I'll write what I just wrote to a friend of mine about you: "I didn't know him as well as some, but enough to really understand what we just lost as a human race. Devin was an extremely rare person. Its not uncommon for someone to know hundreds of people. It is very uncommon to find several hundred people calling one person a "good friend". That was Devin. And several hundreds of people are mourning him." Like a lot of people, this still doesn't seem real. Maybe unlike some people, I don't know if I want it to seem real. I don't know what I'll be like when I really get it, that I'm never seeing you again, and that you went away forever for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I miss you Devin. Eric

Devin, The worst part is, we'll never know how far you would've made it; you're one of the most hard working, determined guys i'll ever know...one of those astonishing few who had the strength of character necessary to reach out and grab success with both hands. More importantly though, you're one of the few genuinely caring, compassionate people in this toilet of a world. I'm glad I was able to call you a friend, you will be missed.
